West Campus Plaza

Landscape Architect: Hargreaves Associates (New York City, NY)
The West Campus Plaza was completed in 2006 and is the replacement for the "Bryan Center Walkway," a non-descript concrete bridge that was built as part of the Bryan Center construction to connect the new University Center with West Quad. The new Plaza has become a central and important outdoor space for the campus and provides flexible and attractive open space for parties, rallies, performances, socializing and studying, while still accomodating the large amount of pedestrians walking between the Quad and the Bryan Center. Located between the West Campus Union and the Bryan Center, and populated with various food carts, the Plaza has become the main outdoor eating spot on the whole campus.
The Plaza , most of which is constructed above grade, has canopy trees, a performance stage, monumental blue stone steps, lighting, fixed and movable site furniture, and a mist fountain system, which combine to create a unique and successful campus space.
